Summary of Position: Instructors are responsible for providing quality academic curriculum, instruction, assessment, and for ensuring a productive and challenging learning experience is delivered to prepare students for the workplace and/or a pathway to further education. This position works to promote social justice within the division and the larger academic institution.

This position will be instructing the Real Estate Law class and will be taught at the La Crosse, WI campus in a hybrid format. It will be taught in a 7-week term starting Fall of 2024. The course will be offered on Wednesday from 2:30-4:50 pm.

The instructor will also be responsible for developing the course in a 7-week format, which will include a blackboard shell. This work will be done with the full-time Paralegal instructor and the Academic Excellence department.
Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.

2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.

4. Instruction - Supporting Action/Task May Include:

  • Deliver courses in multiple modes of delivery including modern classroom (F2F), Zoom or Teams, online or hybrid/blended, and on-site training for external customers where applicable
  • Address and refer student concerns
  • Guide and support students on one-to-one basis outside the classroom as well as in classroom setting
  • Assist students in developing critical thinking skills to understand/apply concepts of subject matter to vocational, ethical, social, and personal practices

5. Classroom Management - Supporting Action/Task May Include:

  • Monitor student progress and conduct student evaluation
  • Provide input and/or maintain division accreditation and student records
  • Integrate the college SuccessAbilities as well as the program outcomes and course competencies

6. Program Development and Academic Leadership - Supporting Action/Task May Include:

  • Responsible for instructional learning activities
  • Provide academic referrals as appropriate
  • Organize, develop, and deliver outcomes-based curriculum and assess student learning
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree OR
  • J.D. (Juris Doctor)
  • Two years directly related occupational experience (one year must be in the last 5 yrs)
  • Experience in Real Estate Law - Wisconsin Real Estate Law required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience preferred

Required Certification/Licenses:

  • Eligible for/or meets WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements.

Special Instructions/About Western

This position reports to: Dean - Business Division

Starting salary: $47/hour

Applicant review will begin: April 22, 2024

Start Date of: Summer/Fall 2024 (Course development will take place over the summer. Instructor will be paid a small stipend for this work)
