Compensation: $480+ /credit hr (Pay will transition to $32 /hr on Fall 2024)
Worksite Location: South Campus and/or Goddard HS

Overview / Job Summary:
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise in his/her area of expertise to students enrolled in the Veterinary Nursing program. Instruction may include classroom lecture,
facilitating group discussion and projects, and/or laboratory instruction. Instruction may include: teaching courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, beginning and ending courses on time as scheduled, adhering to faculty ethical and professional behaviors, and other duties at the discretion of the Program Director or Dean of Health Sciences

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
  • Delivers face to face, hybrid, or online classroom lecture/lab/clinical instructional curriculum to students in a professional manner.
  • Prepares and develops curriculum, instructional materials and course schedules (As per KBOR and industry requirements).
  • Returns graded work in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Submits grades by the established due date and assists the registrar in maintaining an accurate record of class enrollment.
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
The position involves fostering positive relationships with Industry Advocate Team (IAT) members, coordinating guest speaker schedules, and facilitating job placements and equipment donations. Additionally, active participation in student recruitment and retention efforts, including high school visits, college events, and tours, is required. Responsibilities also include procurement and upkeep of instructional equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. Flexibility to undertake additional duties as directed by the Program Director and/or Dean of Health Sciences is expected.

Education:
  • Associate degree in Veterinary Technology required, Registered Veterinary Technician license (RVT) required.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ full-time work experience in industry preferred.
  • Must possess current licensure/certification/registration as required by profession.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain Veterinary (DVM) or Veterinary Technician Licensure (RVT) in the state of Kansas.
  • Teaching experience in adult education preferred.
  • Required knowledge of computers and various software applications, including basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and effective prioritization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software application.
