Job Description

We are seeking a Security Technician to join our federal team based at our DEA, Arlington, VA location. The Security Technician will be responsible for the preventive maintenance (PM), programming, and testing of all the system devices within the NCR.

As a Security Technician, you will:

A

  • Perform standard and preventative maintenance for all hardware associated with site security: ACS, VSS, IDS, Inventory, Shooter Detection System, Visitor Management, Intercom/Emergency Notification, and AeroTurn turnstiles.
  • Work with DEA Protective Service Officers (PSOs) for system troubleshooting, maintenance and training.
  • Assist in training of the PSOs, DEA Employees and Contractors on system operation related end user functions.
  • Meet with Site Security Managers to discuss system functionality on a recurring basis,
  • Perform testing on physical security systems.
  • Assist in changing combination of safes, CDX-09/10 door locking hardware with or without LKM function.
  • Assist in programming of ACS clearances, IDS codes and permissions, inventory management system and electronic key management system.
  • Relocation of existing physical security equipment.
  • Complete installations or assist with coordination of installation with contractors and escorting duties as required.
  • Generate reports for event history and clearance information at end user request; and,
  • Provide remote and telephonic support to DEA field offices from DEA Headquarters.



Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing of commercial and/or industrial integrated / electronic security systems for complex low voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV and digital recording systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment
  • Works well unsupervised and also as part of a team environment
  • Active Department of Defense Secret clearance (or one that was active within the last 2 years).A

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Softwarehouse C-Cure 9000
  • Proficiency working with commercial and/or industrial camera systems. Experience working with Bosch, MDI, and/or American Dynamics preferred.
